Atlanta Moves to 5-0

The Falcons won yet again.  This time it wasn’t quite as easy.  Atlanta came into the 4th with just 7 points on the board.  They put up 17 in the final frame to seal a 24-17 victory.  Julio Jones had a nice bounce back game with 10 catches, 94 yards and a TD.  Tony Gonzalez had a blast from the past with 13 receptions for 123 yards himself.  The Redskins do have one of the weakest pass defenses in the league, and they showed that again on Sunday.

Ryan threw for nearly 350 yards with 2 scores.  Michael Turner had a decent game, but ended up playing the hero with a 13 yard run to take the a lead with less than 3 minutes to play.  The Redskins were a little unlucky when RGIII was knocked out of the game with a concussion.  This meant another rookie in Kirk Cousins had to take the reigns.  He ended with a TD, but also threw an INT.  Most of his 111 yards came on one play when he hit Santana Moss for a 77 yard score.

The Falcons defense wasn’t remarkable, and likely would have given up more points if RGIII didn’t take an early exit.  They struggled once again stopping the run.  Alfred Morris had his way with 115 yards on just 18 carries.  Morris has played exceptional all year, so this doesn’t come as a big shock.  With Atlanta having the best record in the NFC, every team is going to play them with a little something extra.  Every team is going to want to be the team that takes them out, so close games don’t worry me too much.  Atlanta has Oakland on deck, which should give them a great chance to move to 6-0.
