It’s never an easy task going into Arrowhead Stadium and walking away with a victory. Can Matt Ryan, Julio Jones, Roddy White and company buck the trend and get the win in Kansas City?

The NFL odds for the Kansas City Chiefs have shifted for this Week 1 encounter. The line opened as a pick’em but now the Falcons are favored anywhere from one to two-and-a-half points at the sportsbooks.

It’s going to be tough though, considering the Chiefs are an improving bunch and have proven to be difficult to beat at home.

Regardless, Kansas City doesn’t have nearly as many weapons as Atlanta. And it all starts at quarterback.

Matt Cassel has shown glimpses that he’s the right man to take the Chiefs into the future, but injuries and inconsistent play have gotten in the way. He’s likely to get overshadowed by Matt Ryan this weekend, especially now that the Falcons have adopted a higher tempo, pass-friendly offense.

You’d change your offense too if you had two of the best receivers in the game.

We all know what Roddy White brings to the table, but Julio Jones has seemingly taken over the number one role. Ask White himself. He’s said that he’s perfectly fine with taking a little step back in order to make room for a special player like Jones.

The Falcons do have Michael Turner and playmakers like Jacquizz Rodgers at running back, but it’s clear this offense will click best when the passing game is working.

Defensively, Atlanta will try to get after Cassel early and often, aiming to force him into a mistake or two that could eventually turn the tide.

However, even if the Chiefs quarterback does manage to mastermind scoring drives, the Falcons most definitely have the right mix of players offensively to keep up. They are rightly favored for Week 1 at Arrowhead.
