Tomorrow night will mark the final preseason contest for Atlanta as they tracks to Jacksonville to face the Jaguars. The final preseason game typical includes few if any of the starters but is the last chance for players to make an impression. The final roster will be set soon after this game so while this may not be overly exciting for fans it marks a crucial day for players on the bubble. I’ll have a recap after the game as well a later post featuring the final roster of 53.
With the starters sitting out, I’mmost excited to see how Dominique Davis and Jacquizz Rodgers perform. If Davis continues to excite, the Falcons may feel comfortable enough to leave Luke McCown off the roster and go with only two quarterbacks. Mike Smith may be hesitant to leave only an undrafted free agent behind Matt Ryan, though. Rodgers could be in line for a breakthrough season with most reports stating Turner is in for a reduced role. With Atlanta working mostly in the no huddle this preseason, Rodgers offers a lot of value with his speed and versatility. With Jason Snelling sidelined all preseason, Rodgers has another chace to impress the coaching staff in a feature role.
