Atlanta couldn’t get their offense going on Sunday, and lost to Tampa 16-13. They turned the ball over 3 times and gained only 30 yards rushing in the game. Matt Ryan was also sacked 4 times in a lackluster effort by the Falcons O-line. Late in the first half, with the score 13-3 Bucs, Ronde Barber picked off Ryan, ending a Falcon drive that looked promising. Bad starts have contributed to Atlanta’s 1-2 record, with the team being down double digits in each of it’s 1st 3 games. If the Falcons want to turn it around, they’ll need to get better in the 1st half.
The Atlanta defense played well in a losing effort, allowing less yards and 1st downs than the Bucs. Tampa tired out the Birds D, holding the ball for 35:52. All in all it was a very good game for the defense, but not good enough to win. The Falcons forced 2 turnovers, both on picks of Tampa QB Josh Freeman. Next week is a big matchup against a Seahawks team which they should beat. Check back for my game preview of next week’s action.
